The number one thing is to be completely honest.  Don't buff up your listing and fabricate the truth.  Be honest and positively portray yourself, if you must contain a negative attribute, try to shine a positive light on it. Also be sure to answer all the questions, the more information they have about you the more comfortable they will be with scheduling a trial lesson. Make yourself unique to stand out, make it personal  and friendly.  Never lie about yourself.  They can find out about you in other ways.  If they find some information you twisted, you will be immediately dismissed for consideration.

On a side note make sure your Mixie, Myspace, and Facebook profile is locked or that there is not any self-incriminating evidence on there.  Students can and will check these.  So check your profiles to make sure nothing embarrassing is on there that a future employer wouldn't want to see.

Another must is to add a professional picture to your profile.  Most students won't even consider your listing if they can't see a picture of their potential teacher.  They are accustomed to seeing passport photos.  They must include one on their resume when they apply for a job, so follow suit and let them see you.  Make sure it's a good photo.  No myspace or facebook photos!  You will have much more success with getting trial lessons with a photo of you professionally dressed (business attire) with a nice smile and a haircut.

Now that you got a killer profile and some trial lessons under your belt read "How do I get the contract?"
