technology in the classroom, esl

Now days, there are lots of techniques to help you integrate technology into your classroom by offering online tools and resources. Some say that teachers are unskilled in the application of technology in the classroom, I believe they are just uninformed.

Thankfully, it is a relief to know that things have changed significantly over the past 10 years when it comes to the teaching procedures that teachers can employ in their classrooms. The fast rising and convergence of technology has sped up the development. So, how do you integrate technology into your learning or teaching techniques in this uprising cyber world?

Here's how:

1. Make Use of a Digital Projector

Digital projectors are the most stimulating and perhaps the most exciting classroom tool ever. A picture really is worth a thousand words. Project your laptop or desktop image on the screen for students to see how you solved that very complicated math problem or examine a frog's iris.

2. Video conferencing through Skype

First, take note that Skype is not only a free communication tool but also a free language learning tool. Through Skype everyone can make and receive calls to and from landlines and mobile phones, as well as online. Teachers can use Skype to have their students put their language skills into practice. Skype's features permit communication not only through speaking, but also writing. In this process, students can practice their speaking, listening, writing and reading skills while seeing their communication associate through a video camera which allows accuracy, authenticity and motivation to the learning procedure. Skype will play a key role in the future of online learning with the tools it presents, its two-way nature, and free access

3. Communicate with email and blogs.

Email makes communication possible with all three major members of the academic triangle: the parent, student and of course, the teacher. The splendor of email is that you can shoot a really short and quick note which will be read. Blogs are an amazing method to keep an electronic journal which encourages dialog, comments, and even discussion among your students. Anything which facilitates a student to express their ideas is a good thing.

4. Wireless technology (i.e. cellphones)

Revolutionizing the classroom environment are the wireless technologies. Online applications are widespread all over the place. Email is the ideal mode of               communication at many schools. Smart phones are popping up all over the place now. There are so many educational tools available on them. Don't shun             them,  learn to control them and use them for the right purposes. Steer the students in the right direction.

It is vital that teachers implement this integration process because these innovative technologies are the tools used in the universal workplace. We will compromise our country's economic future if we produce students who are not in the front line of advanced technology.

Teachers need to realize and embrace the latest technologies. If you are a teacher take note. You have a goal of igniting the fires of curiosity. Communication has minimized the distance and brought the four corners of the world much closer. The pace of transformation is indeed awesome.
