This is an excellent ESL discussion lesson plan that covers the swine flu.  It contains a pdf, word, and mp3 for the audio.  There are ESL activities that go over the vocabulary such as vaccine, so far, toll, reported, away, could, severe, outbreak, pandemic, and other vocabulary associated with the news event.  It also includes a pre and post task for the reading or listening and discussion questions for students to go over after the activity.  There is even a writing activity for the lesson plan as well.  This is another great lesson plan by Sean Banville from BreakNewsEnglish.com

A lesson about the situation in Gaza (dec 2008~).  Students discuss some of the vocabulary words about the news story and then go over their opinions on the topic.  There is a listening or reading task for students.  The author has included an mp3 of the audio as well as 13 pages of goodies to be printed off.
